To the child that conquered their fear of heights, or sleeping in the dark, or riding without training wheels or sleeping out for the night for the first time this year
I SEE YOU
To the child that managed to resolve more conflict than they started this year, to the child that learnt to say the impossible; "I'm sorry", and to the child that walked away from the fighting instead of getting involved
I SEE YOU
To the child for whom school is a huge struggle, you get up every day and you go
I SEE YOU
To the child that battled all year with the maths, or reading, or concentration, or speaking out in class, or learning their words, but persevered anyway
I SEE YOU
To the child that found the kindness in their heart reach out in any way to another person or to an animal in need or in pain
I SEE YOU
To the child that learnt to give and to share for the first time this year and even found joy in these
I SEE YOU
To the child that battles to make friends and to be social, you made new friends this year and for that
I SEE YOU
To the child who wanted so much to please, but was just out of sight of an adult who perhaps was too busy or too distracted
I SEE YOU
To the child who lost a friend or a loved one this year, but carried on everyday bravely even though their heart ached
I SEE YOU
To the brave parents that try every day to do the best for their kids
I SEE YOU
Amen
Final Note for the Year
The end of the school year is here and what a journey it has been. It only feels like yesterday when the Prep students walked through the school gates for the first time, with many parents shedding a tear as they left them in our care. I am so pleased to have watched the students grow in so many ways this year as they have strived for their personal best and grown socially, emotionally and academically. Thank you, students, for showing your talents. Whether it be a keen ability to greet others with a smile daily, to make others laugh with a joke, to display creativity with art and music, to show ability in the sporting field, to being a problem solver in Science or to be a very reverent child in class prayer. You are all superstars and have shone brightly this year.
Thank you to Father Dariusz, our Parish Priest who has provided much guidance for the students especially through leading series at the Church and through the Sacramental program this year. We are fortunate to have Father Dariusz continue his visits on the first weekend of each month, rain, hail or shine.
Thank you to all the St Joseph’s Staff, from the most dedicated teachers, passionate leadership team, nurturing Support Officers, cheerful office staff and Cindy in the tuckshop you are what keeps the St Joseph’s Community thriving and bring the best out of the students. We thank our Principal Megan Pearce for her vision and passion for the school and look forward to her return in 2022.
Thank you, parents, for working in partnership with the school throughout the year, to know and learn about each child and aim to bring out the best in them. We look forward to strengthening our relationship in 2022. May the season of Christmas be filled with joy and happiness. Wishing you all a safe and happy holiday.

Dear Parents and Guardians,
Welcome to Week 8. What an exciting couple of weeks it has been, with Starry, Starry Night, Year 6 Graduation and our first ever St. Joseph’s Annual Awards Night.
What an incredible night we had at Starry, Starry Night with Josh Arnold and his team and the students sounded amazing.
Congratulations to the Year 6 students who celebrated on Friday night with their families graduating from Primary School. We look forward to continue to celebrate with you on Friday at the last School Assembly for 2021.
On Tuesday night we congratulated the 2021 Prep and Year 6 class on graduating and celebrated the recipients of the 2021 Annual Awards.
Personalised Learning Plans (PLPs)
The teachers have now completed the process of writing Personalised Learning Plans (PLPs) and have met with parents over the last few weeks. Personalised learning is a process that supports a wide range of students with additional learning and support needs. This includes students who may require support in one or more of the following areas: learning (including high potential learners), behaviour, social/emotional, cultural/language (including international students, boarders and learners of English as an Additional Language or Dialect) and those who have educational support needs arising from disability.
Daniel Morcombe Child Safety Curriculum
The teachers are in the process of completing the Daniel Morcombe Program this week from Prep – Year 6. This curriculum is based on the principles of best practice in child safety education and centres around three key messages: Recognise, React and Report. A collaborative approach between schools, families and the community is the best way to provide safety education to children.
I would like to take this opportunity to say ‘Thank you’ for all your support over the year and congratulations to all the students on all their hard work and resilience that they have displayed throughout the year.
Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and safe and happy holiday and I look forward to seeing you all again in 2022.
Kind Regards,
Melanie Turner.
Our lessons over the last 2 weeks were playing Tball. Each class really improved in their fielding skills and learning how to run the bases. The focus was also on following the rules and playing as a team.
To celebrate our last lesson each class enjoyed participating in Team Building Challenges.
Each team had to make the longest block row, the tallest tower, and then complete the Wheelbarrow challenge.
It was all about working together, using strategies and cheering each other on.
Lots of fun and cheering!!!
Wishing everyone a great holiday and thanks for always working so hard in P Ed lessons.
Miss Libby
Hello Prep Families,
We have had a wonderful last week of school doing lots of fun activities to prepare for advent and the festive season. Students have been learning about the meaning of Christmas and why this time is so important to the church. We have been making and bringing home some great craft in the last couple of days to keep your eyes peeled for the creative and festive work of your students.
The Preps are all very excited to be moving to year 1 next year and I wish them all the best for all their years of schooling ahead. It has been such a treasure to watch you all grow and learn throughout the year, especially in your reading. You have made me so proud of your hard work and dedication to learning this year. Thank you Preps for a fantastic year, and I hope you all have a safe and happy Christmas and new year.
Thank you to all the parents for your care and support this year it has been a pleasure to meet all of you and get to know your students so well. I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and Happy 2022!
Kindest,
Anneka
Hi Parents,
What an amazing Semester it has been together and a joy to teach all 20 students. We’ve celebrated both Starry Starry night and our Dance night together too. I cannot wait till next year where we will learn many new things together.
Over the past week we have been cleaning our room and celebrating with plenty of Christmas carols and craft in the classroom. I hope you enjoyed our Christmas cookies, the students certainly did.

Year 1 participated in Mission Day on Wednesday with the rest of the school raising money for a great cause, The Royal Flying Doctors Service.
As well as celebrating Christmas we were lucky enough to celebrate Ella with her new Baby brother Liam for a visit and also two of Kelsie’s brand new puppies.

I wish you all a safe and happy holidays over the break and I am excited to start off 2022 together.
Miss McLeish
Hello Families of Year 2 for the final time!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
We have ended the year with all the laughter and smiles I had hoped for. We have done some fun craft activities, fine motor games and problem-solving tasks. The students have really enjoyed the end of year celebrations, especially our End of Year Mass. I have added a range of photos from our Year 2 adventure below.
I sent home all the workbooks and Christmas craft we have been making during the week. If you feel as though I missed something, please let me know via email.
I wish you and your families a very safe and happy Christmas and New Year! I will see you around next year and wish you and your kiddos all the best for Year 3.

Warm Regards,
Emily
Year Three have been working hard to complete their assessment in the past two weeks. They have been very busy completing a poem review, a science melting experiment and a research project on the Great Barrier Reef.
As the Year 2021 comes to a close for St Joseph’s Parish School, Weipa I have asked the Year Three students to reflect on the year that has been. Here some of their responses:
My favourite memory from Year Three was my teachers. - Alex
My favourite memory from Year Three was being able to use the laptops. - Domonic
My favourite memory from Year Three was the Colour Run. - Dylan, Jed, Tye
My favourite memory from Year Three was when everyone included me in handball and that I made a bunch of kind friends. - Vanessa
My favourite memory from Year Three was the Cross Country and swimming carnival. - Jackson
My favourite memory from Year Three was having redeem time at 12:45pm everyday. - Grayson
The students are most looking forward to having a new classroom, meeting their new teacher and learning new things in Year Four 2022.
Overall it has been a productive term in Year Three. I have enjoyed the students’ keen interest in number facts and I believe this is the area of learning that has progressed the most for our class.
The end is here for Year 4! The class has grown so much since Week 1 of Term 1 and there is now a group of students eager to start their senior years of primary schooling. I have seen students become more resilient, patient, respectful and above all, kind to each other. As the class moves into Year 5/6 contemporary learning in 2022 I’d like to take the opportunity to thank all of the parents and carers for helping me educate these children throughout the school year.
As we say goodbye to each other for the holiday break, we say goodbye to Nate and Summer. Nate and Summer will be missed and we wish them the best of luck in all their new adventures.
I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous new year. Thank you for entrusting your children to me for 2021. I hope they have learned the value of hard work, discipline with their schoolwork and to always try before thinking tasks are impossible. I wish you all the very best for 2022.
Thanks,
Justin.
The end has finally come. We have achieved so much and a short glimpse was seen at the awards night this week. It was so nice to see so many happy students proud of themselves. But like I said this was a small glimpse of our achievements this year. We have grown in height, emotionally, spiritually and academically. The Year 5 students are definitely ready for their leadership responsibilities next year.
We have been busy consolidating this past couple of weeks. Reviewing our factors in Maths and revisiting the story about Jesus’s birth. We also had the opportunity to put our knowledge of adaptations to practice by creating a hybrid animal that is adaptable to a variety of environments and habitats. Our artistic abilities shown and our creative thinking skills were challenged.
As we say goodbye to each other for the holiday break, we say goodbye to a few of our students who will not be back with us next year. We wish Summer and her family all the best in Yungaburra; Max and his family all the best in Atherton; and Antonia and her family all the best in Cairns.
I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a blessed New Year. I look forward to seeing you in the new school year.
FINAL FOREVER FAREWELL!!!!
Recycling Committee
This Term the recycling committee has been collecting poppers for the RFDS, Royal Flying Doctors Service. This Term we have raised $105.00 to go to the people that are in need for help and for the people that are sick. Our Goal was to raise $100.00 but instead we got up to $105.00 and more. We thank all the students and teachers for supporting us to reach our goal to raise these funds.
Mission Day
Today at our Mission day we sold most of our handmade items and all the kids loved the cupcakes that we made. We all had so much fun and the teachers really liked the cup cakes. The pom poms were the most popular, then cupcakes. We made $218.00 and that was not including the stress balls! What a great effort.
Graduation Night
At the Year 6 Graduation we had to dress up in a formal outfit. The boys had to wear a nice, neat outfit and the girls had to wear a beautiful dress. It was so awesome, and the speeches were amazing. All of Year Six got to write an award for each other and they were all so kind and thoughtful.
At the end we all played cops and robbers together and it was a good way to spend our last time together.
The Kumrumja Centre looked pretty awesome!
On Thursday we went to the pool as a reward for our great work throughout the year. Miss Libby and Ms Gear celebrated with us. We played Marco Polo, tiggy, Ultimate Footy and bullrush. It was a cool way to finish off the year.
