Learning Support News

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Welcome to Week 8. What an exciting couple of weeks it has been, with Starry, Starry Night, Year 6 Graduation and our first ever St. Joseph’s Annual Awards Night.

What an incredible night we had at Starry, Starry Night with Josh Arnold and his team and the students sounded amazing.

Congratulations to the Year 6 students who celebrated on Friday night with their families graduating from Primary School. We look forward to continue to celebrate with you on Friday at the last School Assembly for 2021.

On Tuesday night we congratulated the 2021 Prep and Year 6 class on graduating and celebrated the recipients of the 2021 Annual Awards.

Personalised Learning Plans (PLPs)

The teachers have now completed the process of writing Personalised Learning Plans (PLPs) and have met with parents over the last few weeks. Personalised learning is a process that supports a wide range of students with additional learning and support needs. This includes students who may require support in one or more of the following areas: learning (including high potential learners), behaviour, social/emotional, cultural/language (including international students, boarders and learners of English as an Additional Language or Dialect) and those who have educational support needs arising from disability.

Daniel Morcombe Child Safety Curriculum

The teachers are in the process of completing the Daniel Morcombe Program this week from Prep – Year 6. This curriculum is based on the principles of best practice in child safety education and centres around three key messages: Recognise, React and Report. A collaborative approach between schools, families and the community is the best way to provide safety education to children.

I would like to take this opportunity to say ‘Thank you’ for all your support over the year and congratulations to all the students on all their hard work and resilience that they have displayed throughout the year.

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and safe and happy holiday and I look forward to seeing you all again in 2022.

Kind Regards,

Melanie Turner.
