Dear Parents and Guardians,  

Welcome back to Term 3. It is great to be back after a glorious break and we hope you have had a relaxing holiday and enjoyed sometime with your family.  

Below are some of the topics that the students in Year 5 have been learning about during the week.  

Social Emotional Learning (SEL)  

 Students will continue their Social Emotional Learning (SEL) run off the Second Step program that works on emotional regulation in combination with the Zones of Regulation. PB4L is the whole school positive behaviour for learning approach to consistent behaviour management and exceptions. Students will participate in lessons and learning based on the St Joey’s 4R’s weekly. 

Science  

Light Shows - Physical Sciences  

The Light Shows Unit provides opportunities for  

students to explore the properties of light and how it enables us to see.  

The Arts  

Problems on the Gold Fields (Drama)  

The students will use their knowledge and understanding of Drama to create an extended roleplay to inform their Historical knowledge and understanding of The Australian Colonies. 

Technology  

Food and Fibre Production - In this unit the students will learn how food and why food is produced.  

Reminders  

Library Day is Thursday – please ensure Library bag is packed on that day  

Health and Physical Education

Physical Education is Friday– please wear Sports Uniform on that day

Homework is given out every Friday and returned the following Thursday  

Laptops – Please remember to charge Laptops at home each night  

Reminder  

Just a reminder that the School Dance Presentation will take place in Week 3 this Term. The Year 5 students costume for this night is:   

• Jeans  
• Boots or sandshoes 

• A long sleeved shirt 

• A Cowboy Hat
