PB4L - Positive Behaviour for Learning

At St Jospeh’s we recognise that our diverse group of students have all had different life experiences and will bring various levels of social and academic skills to all aspects of schooling. We have identified the following school wide expectations to teach and promote our high standards of responsible behaviour:

  • Be Respectful
  • Be Responsible
  • Be Resilient
  • Be Ready for Learning

These expectations provide a reference point to all staff and students both in and outside the classroom. Clear expectations promotes ownership of behaviour which leads to greater development of lifelong skills such as self-discipline and respect for ourselves and others.

Be Respectful

Respect is exhibited in such conduct as:

  • Listening carefully and actively
  • Using good manners and kind words
  • Only speaking when it is your turn
  • Taking pride in our uniform and how we present ourselves
  • Listening to and following instructions
  • Caring for our own and others’ property

Be Responsible

Responsibility is exhibited in such conduct as:

  • Follow instructions the first time
  • Interact positively with people
  • Report any problems immediately
  • Be a good role model for others
  • Keep all areas neat and tidy
  • Be prepared for class by going to the toilet and getting a drink before the bell
  • Use your walking feet.

Be Resilient

Resilience is exhibited in such conduct as:

  • Waiting patiently
  • Using the S.T.E.P problem solving strategies when problems arise
  • Accepting responsibility when corrected and willingly apologise
  • Using positive self-talk
  • Persisting with challenging tasks
  • Remaining calm in challenging situations
  • Bouncing back to work or play

Be Ready for Learning

Learning is exhibited in such conduct as:

  • Asking for help when needed
  • Willingly participate and contribute to class learning
  • Being on time for each class and activity
  • Having all equipment for learning out and ready
  • Aiming to achieve your best
  • Taking pride in everything you do
  • Positively engaging in all activities
  • Appreciating differing opinions
  • Following instructions

Through the use of consistent and clear language all our students become confident naming the 4R’s and are continually acknowledgement for their positive behaviour at St Joseph's.
