CROSS COUNTRY 2021

What a great feeling it was to have our school community together again for our Cross Country last Friday!!!

My first words are how impressed I was (as were all staff) at the resilience and team spirit of the students and how proud we were to see them dig deep and have fun!

Competitors displayed persistence when things got tough in the heat, they demonstrated resilience when they weren’t sure of the course or how long to go, and best of all they supported each other, no matter what team.  As a teacher or parent, you couldn’t ask for more than that!

The Parents and Friends provided a sausage sizzle for the students and icy poles after their run.  Thankyou to Aimee, Jo, Hayden, Brian and Robbo for your support and organising all the food.

Special thanks go to Nik Clegg and Kylie Argent for being our amazing running support for the students on the day. Particular mention to the Yr 6 students for really stepping up on the day for assisting younger students and doing whatever they were asked to do without question.  Their enthusiasm and desire to help was truly inspirational!

To Brad, Brian, Matt and Chrissy and staff who helped set up in the morning. What a team!

To everyone who helped pack up in such a short time after the event.  Thankyou. It was such a quick pack up and that was so much appreciated.

To Parent Helpers on checkpoints: Paul, Kellie, Meedz, Hayden, Matt, Stacey and Mitchell.  You were there all morning encouraging each student and I know it made such a difference to them.

To Dee Foy for being our First Aid Officer, your presence was very much appreciated.

To Katrina Schofield for allowing us to borrow the blow up FINISH LINE.  How exciting was it for the kids to run over that as their final run!

Presentation of Age Champions and the overall House Winner are to be presented on Friday 30th April at assembly.

NORTHERN PRIDE VISIT

On Tuesday we were fortunate to have the Pride team visit us and do some cool skills games with the students from Yr 3-6.  They will be back next term and are keen to be involved with our school for future community activities.

Thanks to Cameron, Seamus, Paul and Tye for giving the kids some fun activities and lots of encouragement.

AFL   AUSKICK

This Friday all students will be involved in the Auskick Program for 4 weeks. Matt will take the students for skill lessons and games to introduce them to ways of playing AFL.

A note was sent home regarding registration for this.  On Friday is it a “Come and Play Day” to see if your child would like to sign up.  Lots of fun and good exercise.

P ED LESSONS    This term we will be focusing on skills for Athletics and refining movement skills.  This will involve ball skills, running disciplines and different types of actions for throwing and jumping.  Next newsletter will outline all the skills the students will be learning in during PE lessons.
