Welcome back to another busy term at St Joseph’s. Already we have had so much happening. Last Friday was a fantastic day of team and school spirit with our Cross Country event. I loved seeing our Year 5 step up and support their team mates and class mates. No man/woman was left behind and all of the students finished feeling proud of themselves. This week we have had the Northern Pride visit the school and we were fortunate enough to be able to do some skills and drills with them. The Pride team are hoping to set this up as a regular monthly gig which will be great for our students. We also celebrated the feast of St Joseph the Worker. How lucky were we to get a cupcake made by our very own Veronica Ah Shay. Thank you... they were delicious.  

Below you will find a brief run down of what will be taught in each subject area throughout the term. If you would like to know some further information, both Melanie and myself would be happy to discuss this with you.  

Religion- The Holy Spirits Rocks: Looking at how the Holy Spirit is seen in our school and community through the action of many.  

English- Persuasive text and information reports, 

Maths- All 4 operation practice; Problem Solving; Shape- 2D & 3D; Data Analysis; Time; Translations, Rotations & Reflections of shapes.  

Geography- Natural Disasters: Investigating the 4 different types of natural disasters and how to prepare for natural disasters within our local area.   

Civics and Citizenship- Democracy: What is democracy and how it affects the way we govern Australia.  

Science- Earth's place in Space: Investigating where Earth is in our Solar System and starting to look at the other planets in our Solar System.  

The Arts- Dance: finding the rhythm and beat within a song to create movement of dance.  

Social Emotional Learning: Continued lessons with Second Step and our weekly focus at our St Joey’s Way assemblies

Homework, Library and Sports Uniforms- Thursdays 

AFL visits & Auskick (water bottles and suitable running school shoes)- Friday of Week 2, 3, 6, 7 & 9 

Mother’s Day Liturgy and Craft Session- Friday Week 3 

School Prayer- Friday Week 5 

Naplan Tests- Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday Week 4 and Tuesday Week 5
