Prep Newsletter – Term 2 Week 2
In English, the students have been focusing and will be focusing on the letters p, i, f and r. This week’s focus was ‘f’ for flamingo and next week will be the letter ‘r’ for rabbit. Students have started reading and decoding simple words when reading simple books and students that returned their library book bags were given a reader on Wednesday. Please return these in your homework books on Fridays. We have started exploring tricky words that are words that cannot be sounded out or are ‘tricky’ to sound. These include I, the, my, a, is, was, you, to, they and that.
In Maths, students have been learning about data collection using tally marks. Students have also been continuing their voting of yes or no. Students have still been working on their number and value knowledge and understanding.
In Religion, students have been focusing on the life of Jesus, the Easter story and the resurrection of how Jesus appeared to people and his disciples after he died on the cross.
In Science, students have been learning about weather, the different types of weather and its affects on our daily lives. This means what we wear, where we go and the activities we can do.
In HASS, students have been learning about different places and how they are important to us. We are also looking at the different places in the world that we and the different things we know about them and how they are important to different people.
