Hello families of Year 2, 

The start of term 2 has been energetic and engaging as students stepped straight back into their learning! We have been revising what the 4R’s looks like in the school and in our classroom. Over term 2, we will be covering new areas of learning and as a school we have some fantastic new resources to assist us! 

Religion: In Religious Education this term students will be looking at different scripture to learn the ways Jesus and his community lived. We will look at Jesus’ actions in different readings, such as Jesus healing a crippled woman, and how we could be more like Jesus in times of need.  

English: We are continuing with our narrative writing this term, and students will be looking closely at different texts to create an innovation and new ending to the story line. We will look at the structure of an imaginative text, as well as the language we use and the characters in the texts.  

Maths: In maths we will be looking at Australian notes and coins, as well as number strands, including addition and subtraction and multiplication and division. This is where all of the new math resources will really come into practise to help us solve problems!   

Science: We are going to be investigating living things in science this term. Students will have the opportunity to look at the life cycle, habitat, offspring, and changes that occur to living things. We are hoping to grow something exciting later in the term! 

Geography: We are going to be exploring connections to places and different features of places.  

The Arts: For Art this term, students will be assisting me in choreographing a dance. We will choose the steps and music, so stay tuned for some hip hop moves! 

Technology: In Design and Technology this term we are going to investigate forces, such as push and pull. Students will be making objects to which they can use force to move, such as puppets and toys.

• AFL lessons is Friday in weeks 2, 3, 6, 7, 9 (sport shoes required)
