News from the Principal - Megan Pearce

Dear Families and Friends of St Joseph’s,

Only three weeks of learning and teaching left for 2020.

Last week I took a few days personal leave to celebrate my husband’s significant birthday and was then at the Principal’s Conference for the rest of the week. Thank you to Meg Newell and the rest of the leadership team for taking on the extra responsibility in my absence.

Thanks for the families who where able to attend our 5th Anniversary Liturgy and song Launch in week 4. It was a great opportunity to reflect on the last five years and to think of all the things that make our school such a special place.

Peter Linnehan, Principal of Western cape College, kindly shared resources so that we could enjoy the song on the big screen. Although at times challenged by the position of the sun, at that time of the day, we were still able to share the liturgy and then see our talented students perform. Congratulations! What an awesome performance, you can be very proud of your hard work and enthusiasm! The St Joey’s song ‘Mighty Rivers Flow’ has truly captured the spirit of our school and community.

So many memorable moments from the evening. It made my day when one little person shared with me that the day had been “The best day of my life”, “Got a sausage sizzle, became a u-tube star and got to play in the rain”. Thank you everyone for making the whole night such a wonderful experience for our children.

We are most grateful to the many staff and parents who helped set up, supervise, cook and serve the BBQ, pack up the equipment, stage and chairs. You are greatly appreciated. Thank you to all for sharing this special moment with us. We look forward to seeing you at our next school event “Starry Stary Night”!

This year we have organised special Starry Starry Night T-Shirts for each child. As some of our planned activities such as swimming have not been able to go ahead, we will provide t-shirts at no additional cost to parents.

We have been fortunate to welcome our 2021 Preps to school over the last two weeks, as part of their transition to school program. It is always so lovely to witness the start of their formal schooling journey and wonder about what amazing things these little people will achieve as they grow. Thank you to mums and dads for partnering with us for the next step in your child’s educational journey, we look forward to working together with you over the next seven years!

God Bless,

Megan
