News from the Principal - Megan Pearce
Dear St Joey’s families and friends,
It’s been another wonderful week here at St Joseph’s and I am blessed to have so many students come and share their fabulous work with me. We have a number of students who have shown great improvement in their learning.
Keep up the fabulous work kids!

Road Safety Week - URGENT SAFETY WARNING
Road safety is something we cannot not take lightly. It is important that our children learn road sense as soon as possible. To do this, they need to know the dangers of the road and how they can avoid these dangers.
Riding a bike to and from school is a healthy travel option. With more than 50 of our students riding, we constantly remind our bike riders of road rules, safe riding strategies including wearing helmets, use of shared pathways and taking a safe travel route.
This week, tragedy was avoided when a vehicle narrowly missed hitting one of our children as they rode past the service station. There are several safer routes students can take to get to and from school.
In addition to road safety messages the students receive from the school, if parents could remind and reinforce safe bike use with their child that would be appreciated. The more times children hear the safety messages and see safe road use modelled, the better their chances of avoiding harm.

Father’s Day
On Sunday we will celebrate Father’s Day. It is a day more than a card, gift or special breakfast. It’s a time that gives us all an opportunity to stop and reflect on how important Fathers are to our growth and development. A father is a father, not because of himself but because of the special relationship he has with some very important people.
What Makes a Dad
God took the strength of a mountain,
The majesty of a tree.
The warmth of a summer sun,
The calm of a quiet sea,
The generous soul of nature,
The Comforting arm of night,
The wisdom of the ages,
The power of the eagle’s flight,
The joy of a morning in Spring,
The faith of a mustard seed,
The patience of eternity.
The depth of a family need,
Then God combined these qualities,
When there was nothing more to add,
He knew his masterpiece was complete,
And so, he called it……Dad
