Firstly this week I would like to thank everybody who was involved with our Mission Day preparation and running of the day. It was such a wonderful day to see the students so excited about raising money for Catholic Mission. In total for the day we rasied $335.90 which was just incredible. I would also like to thank the Year 2 class for being so understanding on Friday when they were unable to showcase their learning at assembly due to our technology issues.

So as not to let this opportunity pass by I would like to thank them for being a part of the prayer for All Saints and All Souls and share in my article this week the wonderful learning they have been doing in class. They have been learning about Push and Pull Forces in Science. They discovered and now know that Gravity is a force that pulls things down, while water can support the weight of items and push them up, making them float.

In Design Technologies they were challenged to plan, design and create a raft that could float and move across a tub of water. The steps they followed were:

1. design, plan and create a raft. Everyone was very creative.
2. Testing of the rafts was then the excitement whereby they had to test across a tub of water.
3. Finally they finished up with conducting other experiments to test out push and pull forces. In some of the pictures below you can see them doing some Rube Goldberg experiments. It is so much fun!

Well done Year 2 and it was a pleasure to work with you this week.
