This week four of our Year 5 and 6 students were fortunate enough to participate in the Readers’s Cup competition.

Sam McNamara, Jessica Hynes, Thomas Kelleher and Lucas Hancock represented our school proudly.

St Joseph’s Weipa and Our Lady of the Sacred Heart in Thursday Island zoomed into the competition that was hosted at Redlynch State College. We were among 49 other schools who had to read 6 books and compete to test our comprehension on these books.

St Joseph’s Atherton were the overall winners of the competition but our students gained a greater understanding of healthy competition whilst being exposed to books they wouldn’t normally read.

The 6 books that the students read will be in the library to borrow in the coming days.
