It is the end of the year! Congratulations on making it through Year 4 with much to celebrate!

In English, students read an information text about the Earth's Cycles focusing particularly on food cycles. Students answered comprehension questions about how food cycles are impacted by human behaviours and explained topic-specific vocabulary such as ‘high yields’ of food.

In Maths, we completed an investigation about Mass and calculating costs based on weight. We used the parcel prices from Australia Post to determine the cost of Christmas presents if we sent it together or in individual parcels! Living in Weipa this is an important skill!

In Science, we continued our investigation into different materials and their suitability for everyday objects. Students designed their own object and trialled various materials. Finally, they recorded their findings in graphs and tables.

In HASS, we entered the Age of Discovery, where we compared the difference between the First Fleet and the Macassans in relation to how they interacted with the First Nations peoples. This led into discussions and research about colonisation vs exploration and the impact it had.

To wrap up the year, we have had time to enjoy some Christmas activities, rehearse for Starry Starry Night and celebrate what a brilliant year. Have a safe and happy holidays! Bring on Year 5!
