Learning and Teaching

Happy end of term 3! What a great term of learning we had had. It was amazing to see everyone’s personalities came out in their costumes for book week. Everyone really showed and appreciate the magic of reading.

Thank you to all the St Joey’s families that participated in the Premier’s Reading Challenge. We had lots of students participate, please keep an eye out for an announcement of when we will present the certificates. 

Science Week

In week 8, it was National Science Week and students participated in the making a zoetrope. A zoetrope was first documented and explained in 1833, by a Mathematician named William Horner. However, some historians believe that this original type of animation could date back to the early Greeks.

Digital Career’s Workshop

St Joseph’s was lucky enough to participate in a Digital Careers Workshop. Our students in years 3 – 6 participated throughout the day with Sam from the Digital Carrer Department team supported by Rio Tinto. The workshop teaches students creative digital technology skills, and as a group they will be building a website that shares information on their local town via podcast, video, and graphic design. The students were able to design apps, interview each other and experiment with a various digital equipment to make a small movie. Once this has been edited and returned to us, we are hoping to share it on Facebook.
