Hello Families and Friends of Year 5, 

What a fantastic first semester we have had in Year 5! Thank you to all our parents and volunteers that were able to give their time at our athletics carnival. It was a great day and it wouldn’t have run as smoothly if it weren’t for our volunteers! 

Thank you to the parents and families who attended our Year 5 Camp meeting on Thursday. If you were unable to make it, and have questions please let us know. There is a packing list and information letter, as well as parent slips for permissions. These must be fully understood, and if you have concerns, please contact us.  

Across our English unit, the students drafted, planned, wrote and published various informative texts to give information to an audience. We wrote about different topics, as well as bushfires and floods. We also read and comprehended various texts, including Tashi, The Forbidden Room.  

Within Maths, students have been exploring fractions and data. They have represented fractions using decimals or percentages and collected classroom data. Students justified their classroom data using fractions and represented results using graphs and tables. 

It was fantastic to be able to attend both the AFL Crusader Cup with many schools in the cap last week and this week the Cricket Cup at WCC. It was fantastic to see great sportsmanship and teamwork at these sporting events.
