Hello families and friends of Year 3, 

We are right in the middle of Term 4 and getting a lot of things done! The students have worked super hard in their learning areas, please see below for a summary: 

English – We have been exploring poetry and the different poetic devices that can be used to tell a narrative. The students looked at different images and chose one as a stimulus. We then brainstormed different problems our dinosaur might come across and how he could solve them using some alliteration and rhyme.  

Maths – We have been looking at positions and space. This involved students designing a space to fit objects and furniture. They had to sketch a plan and design the space, keeping in mind the size of the room. Students also needed to draw a legend and key to represent the different items in the space.  

Religion – Students have been exploring the Beatitudes and the powerful message Jesus portrayed on the hill. They have had to match up different values and rights to the Beatitudes.  

Science – In science the students have explored different solids, liquids and gases. Next week we are going to be doing some small experiments on melting and changing states.  

Geography – This has tied in neatly with maths, where the students have been looking at BOLTSS and different mapping conventions. The students are now going to compare the similarities and differences between Australian schools and schools across the globe.
