Year 2
Dear Families and Caregivers of Year Two,
It’s been a great start to Term 4! With such a short term we have lots to do and so much to learn. We have been exploring Earth’s natural resources, finding out about our connections to places, developing our ability to work out more complex mathematics problems and spelling patterns, and learning about forgiveness in the parable of Zacchaeus the tax collector.
In reading this term we continue to work on building fluency and comprehension. Students identify letter patterns in recognising consonant and vowels in words. The students also enjoy recording themselves reading. They can replay the reading and identify where they are fluently reading.
In Maths we have learnt a how to identify word problems, get an answer, and then double the answer. We have learned that there are many ways to identify, represent, and solve a math problem. During our Maths lessons, we consolidate our learning by refreshing math facts and times tables and extend our understanding by representing and solving new problems.

In Science this term we are learning about Earth’s natural resources. Students have been thinking about what kinds of natural resources Earth has and the importance of conserving our natural resources. We have just started to learn about the natural resource of water, how important it is, and how the water cycle works.
In Geography this term we are learning about places far and near. We are learning to identify how and why we are connected to places, and how connecting to places that are near to us can be different than connecting to places far away.
Kind Regards,
Mrs Tapper, Mrs Barber and Mrs Hamilton,
Year 2 Team.
