Year 2
Dear Families and Caregivers of Year Two,
Welcome back to Term 4! It really is hard to believe we only have a few more short weeks together before our Year 2’s become big Year 3’s. Students have settled back into their routines and are ready for an exciting and busy term ahead.
In reading this term we have continued working in our reading groups building fluency and comprehension. Students use base words from their books to word build to help them understand spelling patterns. We also enjoy the unjumble activity where students unjumble sentences from their reading books.

In Maths we have learnt a new strategy called “string addition” which helps us to add two and three-digit numbers. During our Maths lessons, we have been using our whiteboard to represent number sentences in different ways. We have also been enjoying playing spinner games to help build our double numbers knowledge.

In Religion this term we are learning about different bible stories including Zacchaeus. Students are learning the important message of forgiveness and saying sorry and to live like Jesus did.
This term you may have noticed the beautification of our school thanks to the wonderful Mr Jason. On Wednesday each class in the school got to plant their very own tree with the help of Mr Jason. During our planting time we were lucky enough to help water our plant and will continue to visit and sing to it throughout our time at St Joeys.
Kind Regards,
Mrs Tapper, Mrs Barber and Mrs Hamilton,
Year 2 Team.
