Rio Tinto’s Athletics for the Outback- Jack Hale Visit
On Thursday the students in Prep- Year 6 participated in Rio Tinto’s Athletics for the Outback Program. This is our second year participating in the program and it was wonderful to have elite athletes and coaches come to Weipa and visit the students. Australian sprinter Jack Hale joined the school with his coach Kate who were full of energy and great advice about sprinting. The students enjoyed asking Jack questions and playing games including the ‘Jack Hale Dash’ where they tried to beat Jack’s record of 30m in 3 seconds. Thank you to Rio Tinto for organising this initiative and providing the students with a great sporting opportunity.
