PRAYER

Saint Theresa’s Prayer

May today there will be peace within.

May you trust God that you are exactly where you are meant to be.

May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith.

May you use the gifts that you have received,

And pass on the love that has been given to you.

May you be confident knowing that you are a child of God.

Let this presence settle into your bones, and allow your soul

the freedom to sing, dance, praise and love.

It is there for each and every one of us.

Amen

Dear Parent/Carers/Staff and Students,

I always like the prayer of Saint Theresa and her wisdom of doing small things with great love. If each of us had the faith to live our lives as per the above prayer, then I’m sure the world would be a better place.

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

I wish to commend St. Joseph’s for their intentional focus on Social and Emotional Learning. Social Emotional Learning teaches young people how to take responsibility for their thinking, actions, learning and lives. Research verifies that when a school works to facilitate positive school-based relationships and teach social and emotional competencies, bullying is less likely to thrive, student wellbeing is enhanced and engagement in learning is heightened.

Weipa visit by the Queensland Governor

Today, Her Excellency The Honourable, Dr Jeannette Young AC PSM hosted a Community Morning Tea in support of the community of Weipa. Year 6 students were invited to write to me to outline why they should be the boy or girl school representative at this function. Congratulations to Faith Chandler and Jayden Machaya who accompanied me to the morning tea after presenting very impressive arguments why they should be selected. I was very impressed with all student writing for this task.

Casual School Officer Position

To keep staff up-to-date with professional development, in-services and leave, there are many times when we need casual relief School Officers (we have some upcoming days between now and the end of term that we already know of). Our relief pool for School Officers is very light-on at present and we aim to increase that number. The role may suit current parent’s or they might know of someone else that it may suit and can draw their attention to it. We are able to work around shifts and usually know in advance when we need people.  The link below will take you to the advertisement.
