APRE
Welcome back to Term 3 at St Jospeh’s. It was lovely to see the children come through the school gates on Monday ready to reconnect with their friends and teachers. This week I have had the privilege of attending Year 5 Camp with the students and Rory Harrington. This is the first Year 5 camp held at St Joseph’s and has proved to be a great success. The purpose of the camp was to build on students' teamwork and leadership skills. Camp Paterson in Mareeba, presents the children with many challenging yet fun activities which build on life and survival skills with an emphasis on communication and teamwork. It has been a great experience for the students to work alongside peers they may not normally interact with and draw on the strengths of others that they may not have recognised before. The students had had a wonderful experience and I'm sure are more than willing to share stories with you all. All the Year 5 students are to be congratulated on the way they conducted themselves and represented the school beautifully.
A big thank you to Camp Paterson for an outstanding program and facility and to Mr Rory Harrington for attending and supporting the students at camp this week. Also thank you to Father Dariusz who took the time to visit us all, it was a great surprise.
Catholic Education Week
Celebrated annually in Week 3, Catholic Education Week is an opportunity for all 313 Catholic schools in Queensland to celebrate and promote their distinctive mission and ethos. In Week 3 St Jospeh’s will be celebrating with our school dance on Thursday 27th July and a school liturgy on Friday 28th July. We hope you can make both occasions.
Parish News
Father Dariusz will be visiting this weekend and leading Mass on Saturday at 6pm and Sunday at 8:30am. All are welcome to attend. We look forward to his visit.
Sacrament Weekend
There are a number of students in Year 3,4,5 and 6 that will be making their Holy Communion and Confirmation on Sunday 13th August at the Parish. This is a special time for the students as they receive the Eucharist and the gift of the Holy Spirit. Part of the celebration is around witnessing their faith and commitment to God; you are all invited to attend Mass at 8:30am on Sunday 13th August and join in the morning tea afterwards.
