Dear Parents and Guardians, 

Welcome to Week 8 and what a busy Term in Year 1 it has been. The students have all been working extremely hard on assessments and celebrating Reconciliation Week. We still have many events coming up for the Term including NAIDOC Week with our First Nations Consultant from CES -  Lillian Miller will be in Weipa working with Staff and students and helping us celebrate NAIDOC Week and Athletics Carnival.  

Technology  

This week in Technologies we have been designing a fishing shirt for the 2024 Weipa Fishing Classic. We discussed the features on past shirts before designing our own. The students had so many great ideas from sunsets, to crocodiles, fish and jellyfish.  

HASS 

In HASS this Term we have been looking at the different features of places and how places and features have changed in Weipa. We have also been identifying  natural, managed and constructed features of places in Weipa. The students are working hard during their Assessment time and producing interesting answers. 

 Maths 

In Mathematics this week we have continued to look at ways of representing data. We conducted two surerys this week one on how many people are in our family and one on our favourite pets. We have been using the data gathers and presenting in a range of ways including picture graphs. The students have been able to compare the data and find similarities and difference  

Just a gentle reminder that Homework is sent out each Wednesday and collected and marked the following Tuesday. If you have any questions about the tasks, please reach out. Homework will be collected on Tuesday and returned on Wednesdays.
