SWIMMING
Great start to our 3 lessons of swimming this term. Students were eager and remembered lots of the water safety elements we taught in Term 1. This Friday students will complete the safety skills and awareness program we have been focusing on. Next Wednesday we will run through the events for our Swimming Carnival on Thursday, so all students know what events they are swimming in.
Thankyou parents for getting your children ready to go for our lessons. Remember goggles for Friday for those who didn’t have them!
Just keep swimming……
FUTSAL
Last Friday Eugene (Mr Futsal) from TCIFA (Cairns) came for the day to introduce the game of FUTSAL to our school. It was so much fun and a fast-moving game, great for fitness and ball skills.
Eugene taught us what FUTSAL means (football + indoor) and the difference between FUTSAL and soccer.
Students learnt how to dribble a ball, STOP or BLOCK the ball for better control and how to make strong kicks and passes. He coached the older students about defence positions and strategies to use. Overall it was a great learning experience and so good to learn a new sport! I learnt a lot from him and feel confident to continue teaching this at school.
Eugene will be back in Week 5 so we hope he will visit us again.
Yours in Sport,
Libby Lange
