Hello families of Year 4, 

Thank you for a great start back to school! Students have settled in well to routines, and we have done a run through of the 4R’s and how we can be Responsible, Respectful, Resilient and Ready for Learning around all areas of the school. 

This week’s PB4L focus was ‘Raising our hands to speak’, and we spoke about the right times to talk in class and how we make conversations.  

Year 4 were lucky enough to participate in some additional sporting events over the past 2 weeks. We had a visit from the QLD Bulls Masters and attended the Athletics in the Outback as supported by Rio Tinto.  

In English this term, we are looking at persuasive texts and the strong ways we can persuade our readers to feel, do or think something. We will dive deeper into modal words, rhetorical questions and writing persuasive paragraphs that have structure and meaning.  

For the early parts of this term, students will continue to look at measurement and geometry, and specifically length, mass, capacity, volume, area and perimeter.

• The Arts is Thursday with Miss Libby 
• AUSLAN is Thursday with Mrs Gear 

• Health is Friday with Mrs O’Brien 
• Music is Friday with Mrs Turner 
• PE is Friday with Miss Libby (sports uniform)  
• Library return/borrowing is Friday 
• Homework is given Monday and returned Friday
