Year 1A news
Hello Families!
Term Two is underway and what a busy term we have had so far.
Last week saw the children participate in the Cross Country Race. We started early to beat the heat and the Grade One’s should all be very proud of themselves for showing resilience and never giving up! Thank-you to the parent helpers who ran with the children and assisted in any way on the day, many hands make light work and we appreciate all of your help.
During English this term we are continuing with our Initial Lit lessons and beginning to learn some long vowel sounds. The children are working hard during these explicit lessons and during their reading rotations. Students are excited to be learning about narratives this term and creating their own stories.

During Maths this term we are continuing to use hands on activities to assist with our learning, as learning by doing is so much fun! So far this term we have been learning to use different strategies for addition and subtraction, we are strengthening our place value knowledge and learning about capacity.
HASS this term is Geography and it sees us looking at the different features of places and categorising them into natural, constructed and managed. Students will be asked to bring in some photos of their favourite place in Weipa so please keep an eye out for SeeSaw messages or E-mails.
Kind Regards,
Mrs Tash Tapper.
