Greetings everyone, We have an eventful term ahead with sport. Our Physical Education lessons will all be based on fitness, building stamina and refining skills. The younger grades will focus on locomotor skills (skip, hop, balance, speed, agility), learning new skills and some ball skills. The older grades will be refining their locomotor skills, improving ball skills and participating in team sports like netball, soccer and volleyball. As always, a main focus will be team building and good sportsmanship. I will aim to improve each student’s endurance level leading up to our Cross Country. Looking forward to a great term of active and enjoyable sporting activities! Yours in Sport, Libby Lange P. Ed teacher |

Physical Education Units Term 1 Overview |
|
PREP |
“Moving Our Body” Preps will be learning to balance in different ways, learn and improve locomotor skills and use their bodies in different ways to improve flexibility. Every P Ed lesson we will go through a routine drill, then move onto skill development. We will always have games to make these fun! |
Yr 1 |
“I’m A Balliever” Year 1’s focus will be balance and ball skills, as well as moving in different ways to improve their agility. This will involve obstacle courses, catching and throwing skills, locomotor drills and games to finish off. |
Yr 2 |
“Be Active – Ball Patrol” Year 2’s focus is ball control with different kinds of balls and mixing this up with locomotor skills. This will improve agility, flexibility and hand-eye coordination. An important part of this unit is learning to control a ball, when kicking, throwing or catching. |
Yr 3 |
“Move means skills” Year 3 will be on the move every lesson, improving general fitness and agility, locomotor skills and learning how to refine ball skills when kicking, catching and throwing. |
Yr 4 |
“Get Set, Get Active” Year 4 will be drilled every lesson in fitness routines, how their body is reacting to this and how to deal with this. We are exploring endurance through repetitive obstacle courses, throwing and catching challenges and some team sport activities. |
Senior Learning Hub |
“Work Together To Be Active” Yr 5/6 will look at fitness levels and how to improve these through repetitive drills and activities. We are also exploring 3 team sports to encourage a skill set, learn rules and develop teamwork. These will be netball, soccer and volleyball. |
Special mention must go to Louis Argent, Oscar Argent and Levi Payne who tried out for the Peninsular swimming trials last week. They swam very well for a last minute notification!
Also Levi Payne tried out for the netball trials and has been picked as a shadow player. Congratulations!
