Josh Arnold from Small Town Culture
What an incredible week for the children at St Joseph’s to have Josh Arnold return to write our road and bike safety song. This initiative is supported by funding from the Queensland Government's Community Road Safety Grants scheme which St Joseph’s was fortune to receive. The week started with brainstorming ideas around how to get to school safely whether it be by car, bike, scooter or walking. Josh worked with students to turn their ideas into a song with a great beat. We also liaised with Weipa Police to identify road and bike safety issues in the Weipa community and how we can overcome them.
A group of 25 students were recorded and filmed around the Weipa community to send out a strong message about getting to school safely. We can't wait to share the video with you all and thank Josh, Jason and Tash for your work this week.

We also had Josh work with a group of children to film a verse of Christine Anu’s Island Christmas Song. This is part of the ABC Compass program and their Christmas special hosted by Christine Anu. This will be aired on the 21st December. Keep an eye out for it in the school holidays.
